Internship Opportunities
Spring 2008, Summer 2008, & Winter 2008
The Score has several educational opportunities in various departments. We’re looking for self-motivated & task orientated people who want to learn about an all sports radio station. Students will receive a hands-on feel and how each department is involved in all aspects of the radio station.
MARKETING – Spring, Summer, and Winter
Promotions: Students will interact with staff Producers & Sales Department on various promotions and special projects. Inventory and package promotional merchandise. Must have reliable transportation. Heavy lifting required. Commit to at least 20 hours; including occasional weekends and to a 12-16 weeks program. Availability Now
Web: Students will be directly involved in the creation, maintenance and marketing of The Score’s website and related database management. HTML, Adobe PhotoShop, and Illustrator knowledge helpful. Minimum 20 hours per week during normal business hours 9A-5P. Availability Now
SALES – Spring, Summer, and Winter
General: Students will be directly exposed too all facets of the sales department. Educational experiences to include prospecting and qualifying leads, research using industry based programs, write and proof sales orders for accuracy, accompany AE’s on client presentations, various client errands, and sales “project” database management. 20 flexible hours per week during normal business hours 9A-5P.
Sports Sales: Students will work one on one with the Sports Sales Director on special projects relating to the station’s partnership with the Chicago White Sox. Must be proficient in the use of ALL Microsoft Office Products. Twenty (20) flexible hours per week during normal business hours 9A-5P
PROGRAMMING – Summer and Winter
Students learn how a major market radio station is produced. Duties include assisting on-air personalities/or producers in producing a daily air shift. Control room organization, answering phones, contest forms and special projects with interaction with the Promotion and Production departments. Hours vary with on-air personality shifts. Regular attendance mandatory.
REQUIREMENTS
***Must be at least 18 years old.
***Junior or senior status currently attending an accredited college, university, or vocational program working toward a degree in the department of interest (Marketing, Sales, Programming, etc.)
STUDENT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO START INTERNSHIP WITHOUT THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION:
***Transcript confirming that the student will receive college credit for internship and provide proof of class registration
***Letter from the participating institute’s (on institute’s letterhead) verifying that the student is currently attending and that they student will receive academic credit
***Student must not be an employee or intern at any other station while doing an internship at CBS Radio-Chicago; college stations exempt
