I am still thrilled to have Cutler and now Martz.
I'm thrilled Cutler and Martz in Chicago.
Cutler still sour over not going to Illinois? Don't give Turner that much credit. He needed to go. Hell, I'd rather have Gary Crowton.
I've been in Lovie's corner from the start, but this is it. 10 wins this fall is the minimum. Only way Martz is in Chicago is because of the insulation (Lovie) between him and pencil neck.
Keep up the good work. Really enjoy your show !!
Thank God for the interweb so I'm not forced to listen to Tampa sports blah.

...Tim Tebow gets to a Super Bowl.
On other fronts, the commercials blew.
Is it me, or did the referees eat their whistles in the second half?
The Who was a safe choice for halftime for CBS and getting too much credit for a mediocre event. Once again, The Who is safe for CBS - a nip slip could cost them a hip. Other networks need to conceive alternatives for viewers to turn to during that time. I would rather watch a re-run of Jackass than any half time show - Super Bowl or not.
The Who, honestly, has not been relevant since before Keith Moon died. Sorry, but it is true. Just because Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey will park your car for a dollar, it doesn't mean you should hire them as the half time show of the biggest NFL event of the year.
It was good NOT to see Kim Kardashian. That pig to me is no different than Snooki from "Jersey Shore". Only in America would either one of those people be famous.
If you watched the pre-game, you would have thought Indianapolis should have been smart enough to have a major storm destroy a good chunk of their city and live with a government that would have done nothing in five years to solve the blight. Every story was about New Orleans or how the Manning family was torn between their son and their loyalty to New Orleans. The media was cheerleading for New Orleans.
Jim Nantz is painful to listen to on any subject. CBS pays him HOW MUCH?
Sorry about going Irv Kupcinet on you. Had to get it all off my chest.

Hey Dan and Terry
This may shock you, but there are a lot of people in Milwaukee (myself included) who are very upset about the Selig statue. I am upset about it because of all of the damage he has done to the game, but a lot of people up here are also upset at how he allowed his daughter to nearly run this club into the ground. The worst part about it is that his statue will be located outside of the ballpark, right next to the statues of Hank Aaron and Robin Yount.

Though I never used it professionally, I beleive that the Doritos spot with the dog sneaking his electric shock collar onto the guy teasing him with the Doritos was hillarious. It was one of the first shown and I thought nothing topped that spot.
If you were at a super bowl party like I was, you didn't have time nor could you hear anything about the "Google" ad.
Thanks,

Hello Boys
My comment is about the Super Bowl Doritos ad with the child slapping the man. I thought that the ad was distasteful to say the least. First you have the guy only looking at the woman as a sex object as well as just come in and start eating food without asking. Then they decide to use a single African American mom and focus on her butt as she walks away, her child is disrespectful, ill mannered, and has no home training. The child then deliberately smacks an adult and get in his face and tells him off. It just looked like a bad Tyler Perry sitcom (which again should be in the Tournament of Bad) and to me was a bad and offensive portrayal of African American's both male and female, the single African American mothers who were pictured as not being able to control young African American boys, and the young African American boy who can't behave and only respects who he wants. If I am reading more into it or not it was there and no matter if Doritos meant to display these things or not someone should have put more thought into that one.....
P.S I did like the dog collar commercial

"Greatest QB" pet peeve
I was wondering if I could get your thoughts on something that was really bothering me about the Super Bowl post-game talk. When I was driving to work this morning, I heard Mully & Hanley discussing whether or not this game impacts Peyton Manning's status as "the greatest QB of all time". Please stop.
It's a special brand of sports retardation that never ceases to bother me: the obsession with small sample sizes. I heard something similar from a few stupid Chargers fan after their loss to the Jets, who claimed that the Bolts should cut Nate Kaeding because he's "not good in the playoffs". The guy is the most accurate kicker in the history of the NFL, and fans want to cut him because he missed a few big kicks in a few games (sample size = 3).
Sports fans have a perplexing fixation on "big games" and "clutch moments". Whether or not Peyton Manning eventually goes down as the greatest quarterback of all time will be in my mind a function of any number of factors - for example, number of touchdowns, passing yards, completion percentage, etc. It's not going to come down to one interception in one game, regardless of the fact that it happened in a "Big Game".
-Mike in Bolingbrook
actually, the saints fans and new orleans people HATE ditka. last time i was there for mardi gras in 2001, any time we told people we were from chicago, they immediatley went off on some sort of ditka rant, and blamed us for being from chicago. one bartender actually refused to give us happy hour rates at the bar until we said "ditka sucks." pretty funny. anyway, its been 9 years since then, but they were defintley harboring a ditka grudge for a little bit. they did NOT forget about him right away and pretty muich ran his "restarint" out of town.

Kenny Jones wasn't really fired...the band broke up in 1983 and reformed for a tour in 1989 with Simon Phillips on drums instead of Jones (this was the tour that was largely undertaken to plug the "Tommy" musical). After that tour, the band was inactive until 1995, when they reformed with Zak Starkey on drums, and have been more or less active ever since.

Hey guys,
I live in Atlanta and I keep up with the show through your podcasts. I often hear your pessimism and negativity regarding the play of Tyrus Thomas, but I decided to judge his play for myself when I went to see them playing the Hawks on Friday. I came away with the distinct impression that you guys are absolutely right...he stinks! If I remember correctly, he had two goaltending calls, a bad pass, and two dumbass shots during his first stretch of playing time.
Oh, Terry...I always hear you refer to Joe Johnson as "something smooth"...you may be referring to Josh Smith's nickname of "J-Smoove"

Good Monday Boys,
Four quick Super Bowl thoughts:
1st. I thought it was an enjoyable game, unless you took the over. I lost 50 cents to my 7 year old (get 'em started young, right macky)
2nd. i was nice to see Denny's spend about $12 million, just to let us know they are giving away free stuff on Tuesday.
3rd. A good number of no pants ads....enough said on that topic. Guys and no pants is usually a winner.
4th. No that i have anything against Peyton, but it was nice to see the Rex Grossman come out in the end.
thanks

Danny and Matt,
Hey, The Who didn’t suck. I think we saw them play the Super Bowl 30 years too late but they now fit the demographic that the talent folks in charge want to use for the halftime show; so now it’s now safe to have them deliver a performance to a live worldwide audience. I was cringing leading up to the performance, but they are old guys that kept it simple and didn’t try to act young. Good job by the band, the crowd was singing and the light show was appealing so I’d say it was a success.

I would like to weigh in on your good fan, bad fan argument. I have been a Blackhawks fan for years. I admittedly stopped watching the team from the early 90’s to a few years ago. The product on the ice wasn’t very good. It took the passing of Bill Wirtz and the elevation of Rocky as the team owner to bring this team into the modern era, especially with respect to televising home games. I have a huge issue with people who say you are a fair weather fan for not attending games on a regular basis. Firstly pro sports are becoming increasingly expensive to attend with respect to famh ailies. Lastly how else as a fan can you show your dissatisfaction with your team and how it is being run by not choosing to attend their games. If every game was subjected to blackout rules sucs the NFL and those games stopped being televised those advertising dollars that are so coveted by teams start going away, then changes might start happening for the improvement of the team. Keep up the great show

I believe that everyone on the field should be in shape. the leader is the head coach/manager. Lou should lose some weight. he keeps saying he doesn't want to have a heart attack, well lose some weight. seems to me he's gotten lazy and just wants to manage from the sitting position. he says "Yes" Soto and Zambrano were a little over weight, lol. has he looked at himself? to me that's part of being a quitter, not being in the best possible shape to do your job. he should set the example. not just for the Cubs but for himself.

Danny Mac-
I wanted to take some time and write you a quick thank you on behalf of the Athletics Department and the University at Western Illinois for your subtle Western Illinois name drops over the past few weeks in talks with the draft and other events.
I've been a Scorehead since I was about 12 years old and 12 years later (yes I'm a whopping 24 years old) I'm still a loyal listener even living in the thriving Metropolis that is Macomb. I came to Macomb as an undergrad in 2003, got my bachelors degree in broadcasting in 2007 and completed my masters degree in sport management this past spring. Now I am working full time as the marketing director and assistant development director, in addition to serving as the play-by-play voice for Leatherneck football.
As you can see, I where many hats here at Western and have worked extensively with radio and television broadcasts for the Leathernecks. While I am working as the marketing director, I am keeping myself close to the broadcasting aspect of athletics because that is where my heart has always been. I actually interned in the sales department at the Score in the summer of 2006, which was a dream come true to be able to spend every day of my summer at the Score.
I have you on at my desk pretty much everyday and enjoy having you back on the Score. Again, your subtle name drops for Western Illinois are a big deal for us seeing as how we have to compete with so many other schools to get any type of coverage or even acknowledgment in the Chicago market. We truly do appreciate what having our name mentioned on your show does, and more importantly the weight that it can carry to the average listeners or even our alumni and fan base in the Chicagoland area.
Hope all is going well for you at the Score. Keep up the great work and know that you've always got at least one Leatherneck tuned in.

Hey Guys,
This year, teams that have just completed a road trip of five games or longer are 14-3 in their first home game back.
The Bull’s were one of those teams already this year. They beat Detroit on Dec. 2 after the circus trip.
Too bad the same wasn’t true this go round.

I have not hear much discussion on how this Super Bowl is the worst case scenario for the Bears. The Saints (the team the Bears beat in the NFC Championship game) and the Colts (winner of the Super Bowl) give Bears fans an absolute measuring stick as to how Jerry and Lovie have taken the Bears from the top of the NFC to a team that has not competed at that level since.
Can you ask Tom Florio if there is any discussion of this inside the Bears ownership or the NFL?

Hi Matt,
Leave Mac alone. We Hawks fans could care less about the Bulls. They had their time in the 90s but this is the Hawks time now! You and the B&B bozos were all raving about the Bulls during their little winning streak but they're NOT the real deal like the Hawks are. There's no comparison between the two as hockey is clearly a more exciting sport to watch.
Go Hawks. Screw the Bulls!

Mac,
2 points on the Bulls.
1 Chris Kaman is the ugliest NBA player ever but effective.
2 The Bulls miss Del Harris. He was drawing up plays and in Vinnies ear last season mentoring him. Seems like Vinnie just cant get these guys motivated at home all the time and that's coaching.

So I flipped over to Monsters and Money this morning, because nothing fuels my A.D.D. like that show and a big bowl of Froot Loops. There was Pappy looking resplendent in one of what I can only assume are several dozen pork pie hats. What really impressed me, however, is the fact that he was able to sell all his newspapers in time to get to the studio for a 5AM show.

Pompei comes on “Mully and Handley” today saying that the receivers need to be smart in order to run this Martz offense. Hello !!!! We couldn’t even run the scripted Ron Turner offense last year without a lot of mistakes. Let’s have the Bears Brass address the fact that so much will be required of the Angelo roster wide receivers in order for this Martz offense to work. This is nothing but an oil and water mix.

Mac+DerSpeegs, Hawks need to make a move prior to the trading deadline…………..I watched the Penguins last night and I’m telling you we don’t have what it takes to beat them in a 7 game series. Perhaps bye bye Campbell for more scoring
p.s. its fitting that the Illinois primary is on groundhog day………………………now if we could move the general election to Halloween, that would be perfect.

Pink Floyd.........music is boring and uninspiring.
REO Speedwagon..............makes me queasy.
Jethro Tull .....they can shove those bagpipes where the sun doesn't shine.
Here's three that make me want to stay and listen:
Queensryche..........one of the most underrated bands of their time.
Van Halen............love both Roth and Hagar...music is timeless.
Journey...............big fan of the melodic music chemistry between Perry and Neal Schon.

Danny,
I always punch the button when Steve Miller comes on. When I was a junior in high school, Steve Millers greatest hits became jammed in my cassette deck for over 6 months, so that was all i could listen. I was lucky I didn't become another victim of teen suicide. I still, to this day, 20 years later cannot listen to Steve Miller.

Regarding my trepidation concerning the suspect offensive line:
I am reminded of the scene in "A Christmas Story" when mother finds Randy sobbing under the sink after Ralphie beats up the bully. She asks what's wrong and Randy cries "Dad's gonna kill Ralphie ! " I find myself thinking about the seven-step drop and crying "They're gonna kill Jay ! "
