Over the years teams that cannot block well have resorted to screen passes, draw plays,  misdirection and traps. The Bears O line is so bad that they that cannot even deceive or trick people. There is nowhere for Ron Turner to go here. If this is what you have to work with, there are no plays that will be successful.
B AND B EMAILS
Hi guys,

Some quick thoughts:

- The scouting report on Beckham coming out of college was that he would
probably be an adequate (no better) major league shortstop, though
second base was probably his ideal defensive position.  I'm fine with
this move.

- Teahan is very grindy, so I understand Williams' man-crush.  He's a
competent player...a guy.  I'm hoping that he's keeping the seat warm
for the Cuban kid.

- Please no more Pods, at least not as a starter.  He wants big money?
Hasta la vista, baby.

is kenny williams trying to get himself fired?  first he picks up roid boy from up north to play CF, pays money that nobody would even come close to in order to do it, now he trades one average 3b and a solid, young 2b with tons of upside for an average to below average utility guy?  and now i hear that instead of doing the obivious, and moving the missile to 2b and bacon to SS, they're planning on just moving bacon to 2b and having teahan play 3b?  what in the hell?  are we in Kansas City?  has Kenny been hanging out with Dan Snyder.  I'm officially off the KW train.  He needs fired.

B AND B EMAILS
is the teahen deal a good move by kenny?

i don't know why hes coming here, where is he going to play? is he going to play at 2nd base? i've watched him and hes much better in the outfield, so is nix going to replace getz? i don't think nix is ready, there are holes in this deal, it tells me that kenny is going to go out and try to get a 2nd baseman, (maybe chone figgins). teahen is either going to play right field or get traded again, the outfield was supposed to be set, with quentin in left, rios in center, and kotsay in right, or re-sign posednik, and put kotsay or quentin at DH. i didn't like the rotating DH we had for a while last season, now, if teahen stays i think he has to play right field, now there is a clear sign of victory in this trade... bye-bye josh fields, he should have played football, sure there was the meaningless 2007 season he put up, but he didn't get the white sox any division titles, or world series. i watched some of the yankees parade this morning, and i already can't wait for glendale, i don't think kenny needs to make any more moves, (i'm sure he'll make at least one more though) but the way i see the white sox... hold on... as i'm writing this e-mail, i just found out what kenny said this morning, hes moving beckham to 2nd base!? and teahen's going to be our 3rd baseman!? unbelievable! so, i guess this e-mail is meaningless, kenny just answered what i was trying to figure out. so now i beg to ask the question of kenny, why are you screwing around with the best young infielder you've had since joe crede!? leave beckham at 3rd, messing with the position he's going to be playing is going to mess with his head! i think the only possible reason kenny wants to put teahen in the infield is so he could possibly re-sign white grindy scotty pods, this whole e-mail is ruined, well all i hope is that gordon beckham is going to blossom at 2nd base as well as he did at 3rd last season, i don't understand you kenny, but i'm sure you're smarter than us all. teahen better be what he was in kansas city, and he better be good at hot corner. you just keep me guessing kenny. sorry for this meaningless e-mail boys.

Lebron went to the hoop hard with the backup plan of the ref bailing him out.  I think if he gets off a shot, he gets the call. You can't call that foul.  Everyone knew he was going to the hole and there were two defenders there.

Hey Guy's

Ron Turner Can Only Work With The Players He Is Given. Jerry Angelo Gave Him This Terrible O-Line.
The only thing He can do is Use them differently.

Orlando Pace at this time in his career is not able to zone block on the run plays he's just not agile enough.
he needs to power block forward.

Williams is a turn stile out there its hard to watch.

Frank O  is just terrible bench him.

Roberto G is probably the best all around blocker they have now.

Olin K  he is very slow to the block after the shotgun snap. put J.C under center and power run.

I never thought I'd be begging for St.Clair back. GOD!!!

Don't make Forte have to read the O-line for his hole to open up on that stupid zone running play.
and if they could just run that damn midline trap 15-20 times a game then forte would end up with -50 yards rushing a game.
They need to go back to old time running plays give the o-line a blocking assignment and turn them loose.
Even on the goal line they still try to zone block????
And how do you not account for the End or L.B on the play action pass.

Thanks J.C.

Hey, love your show. Would you trade Gaines Adams, Henry Melton, and Jarron Gilbert for Brandon Marshall or Anquan Boldin? Most would but Angelo wouldn't. Of course he would, but he could have and he didn't. The cardinals or the broncos would have taken (2) 2nd round picks for Brandon Marshall or Anquan Boldin. The bears traded down their 2009 2nd round pick for gilbert and melton and traded the 2010 for gaines adams. Who would you rather have? - Dylan in Des Plaines

Love the show guys!  Do you think the Sox have what it takes to bring in Chone Figgins? and if so where do you see him playing, would it be 2nd with the loss of Getz or could he be at 3rd and move Beckham to 2nd? - Steve in Waukesha

After this trade who do you believe is the top target for the Sox this offseason?

Long time listener guys, do you think Tyrus Thomas is going to play much of a role this year, because they seem to be fine without him.  Could he be traded before the deadline for something we actually need?

while this may sound like i am rambling on it is that i and many like me have passion for baseball but realize we have nothing to cheer. the media has gone bent over backwards saying the yankees have not bought a world series and that they have not won since 2000 so money is not the overriding factor in there victory :but that is a bigger like then the wwe. why you ask well the first reason is since the yankees never lose anyone to free agency if all is equal they play with a huge advantage .second if pitching is 70 % of baseball and starting pitching is at least half tuff is it to sign the two best pitchers out there .a rod was a free agent for all practical purposes no one could afford him tex damon matzui where free agents the only to core players that play everyday they brought up in 5 yr where cano and cabberra who play in a loaded lineup .they are always men on base when they bat therefore they see fastball after fastball .the great brett gardner was o for the series and the great phil hughes and joba are pitchers who pitch well with a big lead but average in a jam .if baseball wants to save the game and make more money there is a simple solution :beside a hard cap that the players need to agree to :mlb strikes a deal with comcast time warner att direct tv and dish everygame free and we split the commericals plus it puts nesn yes and all other of the local tv contracts in the garbage all the money is split equal .The best interest in baseball comes before the cubs mets yankees dodgers and red soxs .when the yankees can spend on 3 players the cost of 22 to 25 teams it can't work .when myself a former season ticket holder not only did not go to but 1 games this year and turned off the baseball after the angels lost it tells u something .only 1 of my 4 sons watched to of the games in the series that cannot be a good omen for baseball .last thought more than 1 team years ago could buy high priced free agents therefore teams could trade them get something for them and the new teams would sign them when only 3 teams could bid on cc and only 3 teams could go after santana the game became a regional sport and if the yankees can have more rev without even selling a ticket than 22 to 25 teams have if they sold out everygame than it pays to end the game  thanx howard

Hey Mac, Hey Laurence....  (SALT-N-PEPA in da house!!!)

How many years did it take for the Cardinals and Yankees to win a World Series in their new stadia ????

Answer:  100 years fewer than the Cubs and counting.

So by this rationale, the Cubbies can either relocate - or spend $341 million on a pitcher and first basemen like the Yankees did last offseason.

Later,

35th Street Slick

Listen guys, Lovie is a good enough coach to win with - the money that you would lose in firing him, plus the money you would pay a new HOF coach could get you a whole new O-line, a receiver or two, and a free safety.  Spending new money on coaching (other than Ron Turner) at this point is stupid.

Mac,

Congratulations on joining Terry Bradshaw, Lou Holtz, and Jesse Palmer in the "Hate Iowa" club. I give you credit, at least you remain consistent in discrediting Iowa at every opportunity you get. I cannot believe you actually think the Big 10 officials conspired against Indiana. How about the SEC officials, are they assisting Florida this year too? Obviously something was up, they were suspended. That is forgotten though. Bottom line, Iowa is undefeated and the national media (including yourself, it's no wonder you worked for ESPN) tries to discredit them as quickly as possible. What's Iowa's strength of schedule this year? How does it compare to the top 10 teams? Do Iowa fans a favor and stick to Notre Dame or Indiana State football. You have made it clear you know nothing about the Hawkeyes. I'm shocked I haven't heard you call Brad Banks, Brian today.

Guys

The Bears O-Line is a mish-mash of square pegs in round holes:

They have a LT (Pace) who should be sent out to pasture. They have a LG (Omiyale) who is a natural tackle with no experience at guard. They have another LG (Beekman) who is a natural center. They have a center (Kreutz) who also should follow the LT out to pasture. They have a marginal player in Garza at RG. They have a natural LT (Williams) out of position at RT. They have a discombobulated line filled with guys who are out of position, inexperienced or simply no longer able to play the game at the NFL level. How can anyone expect them to perform, open holes in the run game and protect the QB? This is an indictment on the pro personnel dept, the GM, the coaches. This is a total system failure.

 Shawn-Joliet

Hey guys –

My wife and I are headed to our first Bulls game tonight at the UC.  Having never experienced the UC yet…got any tips for us?  Just wondered if we could pick your brains.

Also too, we were at that Iowa game on Saturday.  Indiana should be asking themselves how they blew two straight LARGE 2nd half leads shouldn’t they?  Iowa was though 2 different teams Saturday.  The 1st half squad looked like they had been out all night, but the 2nd half squad looked like they had something to prove.  What say you guys?

Hope to talk to you soon.

Dan,

It was nice to see Golden Tate get a little Heisman love last week.  As for my guy Danny Lefevour, the Trib ran a little expose last week, which i have included below.  Ask Miller, when he is on,  who is going to reach the college football all time TD mark first? LeFevour, Tebow, or Juice Williams.  Since they are all on par in Jimmy's World.  Both Tebow and LeFevour are closing in on the all time record of 146.  But Juice is a better thrower right?  If you where playing the which of these guys is not like the rest game, two will get drafted one will not.  Wonder who that will be?

Dan, I just listened to you say we didn't spend alot for Pace. Read this out loud....I checked the signings this morning and this is what the Bears spent to replace St. Clair:

To think our GM Mr. Angelo, the penny wise and pound foolish GM still has the Bears back, consider this;  He failed to sign John StClair for 3 years at 4.5 million with 600k gauranteed and to redeem himself he gave cast away Orlando Pace 3 years at 15 million with 6 mil gauranteed and just in case Pace doesn't work out he brought in Kevin Shaffer for 3 years at 8 million ane he can't even get on the field.
Don't ever say the McCaskey's are cheap, uninformed, stupid maybe but face the facts are clear here, Angelo has got to go.  Lovie and Turner have to work with Angelo's great dealings and it's no wonder they won't talk football to the fans and press, they are too busy covering for the great Gerry Angelo.  Fire Angleo now....

Hey Guys,

Love the show, but about 20 minutes ago a caller made a comment saying lovie smith couldn't be criticized because he's black which is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.  It would be like me saying lovie is being criticized too much because he's black! LOL When anybody who really understands the game knows that as the head coach, criticism is apart of the territory, it doesn't matter if you're black, white, green, whatever!   Bears fans, let's keep the comments on football no race because it has nothing to do with the Bears problems.  The Bears problems have to do with lack of talent!!! LOL
That type of crap has no place on"The Danny Mack Show", which, by the way, is THE BEST sports radio show in CHICAGO!!

Please address this comment on air, from a loyal african american fan, I would appreciate it!  Thanks Guys!

The process has begun.  While Cutler was “moping” defenses have been mopping up the turf with various parts of the franchise QB’s expensive anatomy.   The end is near for Ron Turner, Lovie Dovie Smith and the rest of his dull minded crew.  Jay is in charge  now, and he will assuredly procure the new leadership on the sideline and in the booth that the team (his team) desperately needs to match his talent; a group of leaders whose vision is in synch with that on the field.   I can hardly wait for the press conference when someone steps to the podium and tells us all “Love Smith is not our head coach”…that statement is profound and presently true; because this team’s play reflects a lack of sound coordination on both sides of the ball.  Should we trust this staff’s   ability to groom our new and burgeoning talent?  Look closely at the deficits in the Bear running game and then glance at the league leaders in rushing; you will see two discarded tail backs; Benson at 4 and Jones at 5th in the entire NFL.  We must dispatch this coaching staff to the ranks of the unemployed--- and quickly; before they release Forte,   Cutler, Hester, and Knox---in an attempt to cloak their obvious inability to evaluate and mold their young talent.  I hope our gifted players survive the tenure of this horrific coaching staff.

Lakers start Kobe and LeBron and then just picks fans each game to dress up and stand around

If the Lakers get LeBron they win the next 4 championships and are in prime position for the 4 after that!

So with all these games in the 80s are the Bulls actually dare I say it, caring about defense, or is their shooting just off?

Can you ask Russ before he comes in what he thinks the Bears are, just in case there is  a Denny Green rant to be had later

I really like the look of this longer lineup for the Bulls, it showed in this game against a big team with Cleveland.

Why is no one thinking to give Nix a chance at 2nd?  He put up solid power numbers for a second baseman when he got the chance last year, he deserves a shot!

How much is it going to cost for Figgins and if you get him does he play 2nd or 3rd and Beckham play the other?

Who is out there to fix the Sox bullpen cause it needs something real bad!

Nice win by the Bulls, maybe they can contend for the 4th spot
