This may shock you, but there are a lot of people in Milwaukee (myself included) who are very upset about the Selig statue. I am upset about it because of all of the damage he has done to the game, but a lot of people up here are also upset at how he allowed his daughter to nearly run this club into the ground. The worst part about it is that his statue will be located outside of the ballpark, right next to the statues of Hank Aaron and Robin Yount.

Hey, The Who didn’t suck.  I think we saw them play the Super Bowl 30 years too late but they now fit the demographic that the talent folks in charge want to use for the halftime show; so now it’s now safe to have them deliver a performance to a live worldwide audience.  I was cringing leading up to the performance, but they are old guys that kept it simple and didn’t try to act young.  Good job by the band, the crowd was singing and the light show was appealing so I’d say it was a success.

I’m glad you guys caught the Jim Gray rambling soliloquy.  I got in the car to go to the store and pick up milk, baby food, etc. right as he started going on and on.  I could only picture Marv Albert sitting there waiting for Jim to throw it back to him, scratching his hairpiece and wondering when he would shut up.  The city of Drew Orleans is praising Breesus!

            I would like to weigh in on your good fan, bad fan argument. I have been a Blackhawks fan for years. I admittedly stopped watching the team from the early 90’s to a few years ago. The product on the ice wasn’t very good. It took the passing of Bill Wirtz and the elevation of Rocky as the team owner to bring this team into the modern era, especially with respect to televising home games. I have a huge issue with people who say you are a fair weather fan for not attending games on a regular basis. Firstly pro sports are becoming increasingly expensive to attend with respect to famh ailies. Lastly how else as a fan can you show your dissatisfaction with your team and how it is being run by not choosing to attend their games. If every game was subjected to blackout rules sucs the NFL and those games stopped being televised those advertising dollars that are so coveted by teams start going away, then changes might start happening for the improvement of the team. Keep up the great show

I wanted to take some time and write you a quick thank you on behalf of the Athletics Department and the University at Western Illinois for your subtle Western Illinois name drops over the past few weeks in talks with the draft and other events.

I've been a Scorehead since I was about 12 years old and 12 years later (yes I'm a whopping 24 years old) I'm still a loyal listener even living in the thriving Metropolis that is Macomb.  I came to Macomb as an undergrad in 2003, got my bachelors degree in broadcasting in 2007 and completed my masters degree in sport management this past spring.  Now I am working full time as the marketing director and assistant development director, in addition to serving as the play-by-play voice for Leatherneck football.

As you can see, I where many hats here at Western and have worked extensively with radio and television broadcasts for the Leathernecks.  While I am working as the marketing director, I am keeping myself close to the broadcasting aspect of athletics because that is where my heart has always been.  I actually interned in the sales department at the Score in the summer of 2006, which was a dream come true to be able to spend every day of my summer at the Score. 

I have you on at my desk pretty much everyday and enjoy having you back on the Score.  Again, your subtle name drops for Western Illinois are a big deal for us seeing as how we have to compete with so many other schools to get any type of coverage or even acknowledgment in the Chicago market.  We truly do appreciate what having our name mentioned on your show does, and more importantly the weight that it can carry to the average listeners or even our alumni and fan base in the Chicagoland area.

Hope all is going well for you at the Score.  Keep up the great work and know that you've always got at least one Leatherneck tuned in.

This year, teams that have just completed a road trip of five games or longer are 14-3 in their first home game back.

The Bull’s were one of those teams already this year.  They beat Detroit on Dec. 2 after the circus trip.

Too bad the same wasn’t true this go round.

I have not hear much discussion on how this Super Bowl is the worst case scenario for the Bears.  The Saints (the team the Bears beat in the NFC Championship game) and the Colts (winner of the Super Bowl) give Bears fans an absolute measuring stick as to how Jerry and Lovie have taken the Bears from the top of the NFC to a team that has not competed at that level since.  

Can you ask Tom Florio if there is any discussion of this inside the Bears ownership or the NFL?

Leave Mac alone.  We Hawks fans could care less about the Bulls.  They had their time in the 90s but this is the Hawks time now!  You and the B&B bozos were all raving about the Bulls during their little winning streak but they're NOT the real deal like the Hawks are.  There's no comparison between the two as hockey is clearly a more exciting sport to watch.

Go Hawks.  Screw the Bulls!

2 The Bulls miss Del Harris. He was drawing up plays and in Vinnies ear last season mentoring him. Seems like Vinnie just cant get these guys motivated at home all the time and that's coaching.

So I flipped over to Monsters and Money this morning, because nothing fuels my A.D.D. like that show and a big bowl of Froot Loops.  There was Pappy looking resplendent in one of what I can only assume are several dozen pork pie hats.  What really impressed me, however, is the fact that he was able to sell all his newspapers in time to get to the studio for a 5AM show.

Pompei comes on “Mully and Handley” today saying that the receivers need to be smart in order to run this Martz offense. Hello !!!! We couldn’t even run the scripted Ron Turner offense last year without a lot of mistakes. Let’s have the Bears Brass address the fact that so much will be required of the Angelo roster wide receivers in order for this Martz offense to work. This is nothing but an oil and water mix.

Pink Floyd.........music is boring and uninspiring.
REO Speedwagon..............makes me queasy.
Jethro Tull .....they can shove those bagpipes where the sun doesn't shine.

Here's three that make me want to stay and listen:

Queensryche..........one of the most underrated bands of their time.
Van Halen............love both Roth and Hagar...music is timeless.
Journey...............big fan of the melodic music chemistry between Perry and Neal Schon.

I always punch the button when Steve Miller comes on.  When I was a junior in high school, Steve Millers greatest hits became jammed in my cassette deck for over 6 months, so that was all i could listen.  I was lucky I didn't become another victim of teen suicide.  I still, to this day, 20 years later cannot listen to Steve Miller.
