Update Anchor
I was born and raised on the Northwest Side of the city, graduated from St. Patrick H.S. Class of '90. First "journalism" experience- writing for the "Green and Gold", the St. Pat's student newspaper.
I went to college at Univ. of Illinois- Champaign, Class of '94. First radio experience at the student radio station, WPGU, 107.1 FM. I worked there from 1991 until graduation. I was a sports anchor/ reporter as well as a DJ. It was here that I learned radio and got to really enjoy it. My degree was in business, this radio stuff was just for fun, so I went into sales and moved back home to Chicago. However after two years of working, I realized that I wanted to get back into the media, especially sports. I enrolled in graduate school at Columbia College in 1996, and earned a Masters in Journalism in 1998.
I've also worked in TV. I started as an intern at SportsChannel in '97, and stayed on there as a freelancer until 2004. SportsChannel of course became Fox Sports Net which folded here in Chicago in '04. Most of the staff there joined Comcast Sports Net, which basically took over all the games involving the Chicago teams.
My radio career was reborn when I was hired as a sports anchor/ reporter at Illinois Radio Network in 2000. I became Sports Director in addition to my other duties in 2003, and remained there until 2005, which is when I joined the Score as an Update Anchor / Reporter. I have loved the Score since first discovering the station back in the early 90's on the old 820 AM, when they used to go dark at 6 PM every night, so it was a huge thrill for me to get the opportunity to work here. It is a great thing to be able to cover the teams that I loved growing up, and I hope to remain here at the Score for a long time to come.
Favorite event covered- 2003 Cubs stretch run and playoffs, up until Game 6 of the NLCS.
