Began radio career in 1979. First television appearance was in 1981. Became color commentator on Chicago Bears Radio Network in 1987 and broadcast Bears games through 2004 NFL season. Currently “Senior Football Analyst” and “Voice Of The Bears” for WSCR Sports radio 670 in Chicago. Have received numerous Associated Press and Illinois Broadcasters Association awards for best live radio game broadcasts. Created and syndicated PRO FOOTBALL WEEKLY on Radio in 1987. One - hour news/talk show currently airs every weekend, 52 weeks a year, on 113 stations in 126 cities around the country. Write and edit show, as well as being its on-air personality and analyst along with co – host, Wayne Larrivee.
Created and produced PRO FOOTBALL WEEKLY On TV in 1988, a half-hour news-magazine for NBC TV in Chicago. Moved show to WGN in 1992, Fox Sports Net (Sports Channel) in 1995 and Comcast Sports Net in 2004 where it is currently running three times a week. Write and edit show as well as being its on-air analyst and co-host along with former Chicago Bear and Cincinnati Bengal, Tom Waddle and NFL Hall Of Famers Mike Ditka and Dan Hampton. Co-hosted Chicago Bears Weekly TV show during the football season on NBC and CBS TV in Chicago from 1990 through 2003. Won two Midwest Emmy Awards in 1992 for Chicago Bears Weekly shows.
Have also won two Society of Professional Journalists, Peter Lisagor Awards for Sports Journalism and numerous Associated Press Awards for outstanding sports broadcasts. Pro Football Weekly writers have won almost half the awards given by the Pro Football Writers of America over the past decade.
Have appeared on Good Morning America, Today Show, Nightline, NBC Network news. ESPN and the Public Broadcasting Service on TV. Have appeared on ABC, CBS, ESPN and Mutual Radio Networks as well as numerous major market independent stations.
